Our contact has a very large church and many different ministries to choose from. So we are fortunate, that we get to work in the departments, that match the calling of our hearts. Here is a run-down of what our team has been doing so far this month:
In the A.M.- Some of our team goes to work at the Compassion International office. The rest of our team does personal evangelism time. Most of us stay at the hotel (where we are fortunate to stay this month) and help the staff. There is MUCH cooking, dishes, laundry, and cleaning of rooms that needs to be done. It is all done by hand and it is a lot of work. Other options for personal evangelism time are going on prayer walks and building relationships with people in the community, so we can share the Gospel with them.
In the P.M.- Some of us go to Agape School on Tuesdays and Thursdays. It's a chance for us to interact with the teenagers who attend the school. We are building relationships with them and sharing the love of Christ. On Wednesdays and Fridays, we go to the hospital where we share the Gospel and pray for every sickbed that we come across. So far we have visited the ward for malnourished children, the tuberculosis ward, and the medical women's ward. We face a lot of opposition when we go, and its difficult to see the people fighting diseases from their sickbeds, but we know that God is with us.
On Saturdays- We go to the Compassion International office. This is the day when the kids are actually in attendance. We help serve them lunch, help teach songs, and play with the kids. There are over 200 kids that come on this day.
On Sundays- There are 2 church services. The first is at 6 A.M. And afterwards this group goes to do ministry in the prisons. The 2nd church service is at 8 A.M.
Hopefully many of your questions have been answered about what we do day-to-day here in Lira. Thank you for all of your words of encouragement and prayers.
Specific prayer request: Please pray for perseverance and endurance for the team. That the Lord would inject them with some fresh passion and strength as we push through the rest of our journey.
Thank you and God bless you!
