A Stolen Heart

I fell in love with a little girl our first day of unofficial ministry. I've seen her twice, and still don't know her name because she is so shy she barely makes any noise.

Fountain Primary School was where my heart was first stolen. We pulled up in our "14 passenger van" that might fit 7 comfortably. The children started running up yelling "Muzungu" (white person). But as we got out they shyed back a little. So we let them know we are friends and greeted them.

We were shown around the school some before being led into a class room. The kids are so great! Before leaving their class they sang us a song.

As we moved to the next classroom in the courtyard I greeted some of the young children. Then I met this girl. She looked to be about 5-6 years old, hadn't been given the gift of dental hygiene, and the sweetest little one I had have met.

I reached out to greet her, she took my hand and wouldn't let go. Then Kiersten called to me from the door of a classroom to let me know I needed to be with the group. I walked into the classroom and looked back outside to see the little girl inching her way to the door.

After being introduced to the children, and all that, we went outside, again. Almost instantly her little hand was in mine. I bent down again in the middle of the courtyard and asked her name. She said something but I couldn't understand anything except mumbling.

The whole time we were there she was holding my hand, and standing as close to me as possible. There was even a point when we played around with my camera.

It was the following day, three little girls stole my heart. They always wanted to be near me and would move to me during "Duck, Duck, Goose," "Little Sally Walker" and any other game. I wish I could remember their names, but I do know that they each began with the hard "C" sound.

There's no way I'm going to leave here with all of my heart. These four girls have already stolen part of my heart. It's crazy. I haven't been in Uganda very long, and I've already changed. I am so excited to see what else God does in my heart over the next 3 months.
