A day in the life..

This past week we traveled to Kabale, Uganda which is in the Southern part of Uganda very close to Rwanda. Or wake up time was usually around 7:00 a.m. but the beautiful part was that you never needed an alarm clock because you could rely on the blaring radio that played the world cup games 24//7.  Breakfast was next where we would have AMAZING Ugandan tea and bananas with bread and honey. After breakfast we would hop on the back of a "truck" (but let me tell you that this is not a flat bed truck I am talking about. Their "trucks" literally translate into what we could call a cow trailer). Twenty of us on the back of those was always a fun experience! On our way to the different schools that we visited we drove through the most BEAUTIFUL scenery I have even layed my eyes upon in my 21 years of life. Breath taking! The only way I can describe Kabale is to think back to what the Garden of Eden must have looked like to Adam and Eve. Although the natives refer to their land as "rolling hills", being a Kansas native I would definitely argue that they should be called mountains (espically after our truck got stuck and we had to walk up one to get to the highway..but that's another story).

While at the schools everyone was always so welcoming and I always ended up making many new friends while there! The young girls loved to show us around their dorms rooms and we loved the chance to talk to them about school, God, or anything else that was on their beautiful minds. Lunch came next and was always a hustled event. We had at least two more schools to visit in the afternoon.  Eventhough our schedule seemed packed at times we never left a school without praying with the students and answering any questions they had about their newly formed relationship with God. At every school there was at least 1 student and sometimes 50:) that boldy stepped forward and said they wanted to pursue (or get back on track) with their relationship with God! It overjoyed my heart everytime! Even if we were not able to see all the effects that our work had done that week, we know God had us there to plant seeds in the lives of these children that we will work on to help them nurture and grow! NIghttime in Kabale consisted of time together as a team, making up songs on a guitar (usually about American food we miss!), telling stories of the day, or playing a good ol' game of phase ten!

God has already been shown to me in AMAZING ways throughout this trip and I know his protective hand has been over us the entire time. I have been healthy and happy and eventhough I miss everyone back home dearly, I know this is where God wants me to be.

An inspirational quote I was given: "Christ has no body on Earth but yours, no hands but yours, no feet but yours" -St. Teresa of Avila (given to me by Liz:) I feel so blessed to be doing Gods work here and showing his love to others! We have so many different ministeries ahead of us that I can not wait to share with all of you! Once again hope all is well back in the states and I love you all very much!
